Fixture Nightmare!!

Could the world's smallest violin please start playing for the fixture secretary!? Having a bit of a nightmare this time round boy's. As I have mentioned to many of you we received a kind offer from Thoresby Colliery CC for use of their pitch for 2010 season. For me, the facilities are far better than Clipstone and whilst Clipstone have been very good to us it was too good an offer to turn down. Sadly, the majority of teams we play have their own pitch and are looking for fixtures sometimes as early as October!!! We on the other hand don't know when we can play at home until February time and even that is subject to cup draws. Hence a dilemma. Accept away fixtures and risk them falling dates that we could have played at home? Turn them down or "postpone" a decision until we have our home dates and risk having no games because everybody else is sorted? This year I have tried to do a bit of both and it has worked up to a point but I fancy we are still going to suffer a little fixture congestion. I strive to ensure that we never play back to back matches and try to keep it at two Sunday's a month as the majority of you have said that suits. Add that to the issue of getting fixtures against the right kind of teams (i.e. teams that aren't full Saturday 1st XI's looking to boost their ego by pummeling us into the floor) and the field is narrower than you might think. I suppose the moral of this bid for sympathy is for you all to be as understanding as possible when I have the finished fixture list because indications at the moment are that a few back to back weeks and a bit of driving are going to be inevitable..........but I'm doing my best!!!

Club Crest Sample Received!

Today I received the sample embroidery for our new club crest as it will appear on our shirts. Obviously it will look better on crisp, white shirts (or crumpled, stained rags in Eggy's case) but having consulted Gabby, we think it looks pretty good! As such your orders have been submitted. I will let you know when they've arrived!

Kit Amnesty

Having recently reviewed our kit bag I have found it to be somewhat light of gear. It is easy for stuff to be picked up in changing rooms when everybody is looking to get away after a game so if everybody could check their own kit I would be grateful. It goes without saying that this kit will need to be replaced which will put a dent in the subsidies we all currently enjoy.

MPCC New Kit

Thanks to those of you that ordered new kit before Xmas.......it seems to be taking a while to get the club crest refined by the designer (a sharpened up version of the one above basically with M.P.C.C written in the blank block you can see between the scales and the Cross of St. George) so I don't expect the gear anytime soon. Hence if you've not ordered there is still time to do so!

Shirts - £16.50

Slipovers - £18.50

Caps - £6.00

All Three - £35.00

Welcome to the new MPCC Blog!

So here it is........the Mansfield Police Cricket Club Blog! As you may have noticed, my updates using the intranet have dried up considerably since I left Mansfield. I tried popping into the building from time to time to send emails etc but have to be honest, it is a proper pain in the arse! Hence, whilst watching England get clubbed all over Cape Town on Sky Sports with the snow falling outside, my mind began to wander in the direction of Summertime and more importantly another successful season for the club.

I am not particularly Internet savvy, but thought this idea was worth a go as a means of getting all the information I have, to all of you, in one go. Some of you won't ever look at it, that's fine, some may look at it from time to time, that's fine too, but be advised it will all be here! Every match report, every statistic, every date, every dropped catch, every wide ball (maybe not every wide ball, I am limited to web space without paying!)

So enjoy, take part, take the p*ss, do as you please but please keep supporting the club by turning out when you can.
