That's It!
That's it, it's all over! Tonight marked the last of the net practice sessions prior to the season opener next Wednesday. Thanks to all that have turned out and supported the practice sessions and subsequently the club, without the hardcore half dozen (you know who you are) we would inevitably fold as a club. See you Wednesday 5th May!

Westminster Match Arrangements
Accommodation has been booked for 12 at Jury's Inn, Watford for our match against Westminster Police on Thursday 23rd September 2010. The hotel is only a few minutes walk into town and less than 2 miles from the match venue. The cost of the trip will be £30 per player which will include a shared en suite room (2 to a twin room), mini bus transport and fuel contribution. Breakfast is available at the hotel for those that want it at £8.50 per head to be paid for by yourselves. I hope you'll agree this is dirt cheap for transport, a game of cricket and accommodation at a decent hotel and we hope as many of you as possible will join in what should be a cracking social event to close the season.

Unlucky Dixy
It is with regret that I have to report that Wayne Dicks is out for the season with a re-occurrence of the back injury that saw him miss 2009. Wayne attended nets on 24th March and looked in good form for someone who hadn't bowled for almost two years but sadly the hour in the nets confirmed that the back still wasn't up to it. I'm sure you will all join me in wishing Dixy as speedy a recovery possible and chin up mate....we can always use a scorer!
Outdoor Practice
A few have asked about an outdoor practice, prior to the start of our competitive (ok, ok....I know that's stretching it a bit) games. Our first game as those that read the blog will know is May 5th, a 20/20 affair against Thoresby Colliery U18. As such, the Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday before would probably be best. I know it will be cold and we will have to kick off around 5pm and be done for about 7pm.
An outdoor practice has historically taken the form of a mini game among ourselves, it is a chance to bat with the added inconvenience of fielders, bowl without the odd results an indoor net can produce and gives yours truly the opportunity to injure myself diving about behind the stumps.
I will happily organise such a practice if people will turn up. Last year I tried the same and there was only me, Gabby and Brian and frankly I felt a bit of a goon where Clipstone Colliery CC were concerned.
So if you want it, support it..........please let me know what you all want to do ASAP.

Footit Strikes
Mark Footit, Derbyshire fast bowler and MPCC reject got his career at his new club underway in fine fettle in a pre-season game at Somerset by dislodging former England crybaby Marcus Trescothick! We are of course all sorry that Mark couldn't command himself a regular 1st team spot with MPCC and no longer dodging dogs*it at Somersall Park and other illustrious council pitches has no doubt left a hole in his life.......but we're glad to see he's making the best of it.
