New Players???

Whilst I am delighted with the commitment shown by the hardcore we now have that always turn out when they can......I refuse to believe that in an organisation of our size there can't be a few more. As such, just a polite appeal to you all to generate a bit of interest in the club where you can. I am more than happy doing all the admin and to contribute 4 runs (granted, when I'm in form) and 2 dropped catches on matchdays, but being seconded away means the area I probably need help most is in the recruitment of new players. It's great to see the old faces back at net's....but c'mon guys, let's rustle up a few more!

MPCC Pre-Season Social Thursday 28th April 2011

I am looking to organise a pre-season social for MPCC players in an attempt to get everybody suitably bonded in time for our first match on May 15th!

I am very loosely considering a Mansfield town centre meet followed by a curry, probably at the Chand just off Toothill lane as they have a private function room we make use of.

There will be some awards for last seasons winners!!

The following day is a Bank Holiday for the Royal Wedding, so hopefully some of you will be able to make a night of it as there will be no work the following day?

Obviously I could do with an idea of numbers to begin with in order to set something up at the restaurant. As such.....please let me know ASAP if you intend to come. Obviously, if there aren't enough, last years winners will just have to get their memento's when I next see them (yep, you got it....deliberate attempt at a guilt trip)!

Test & ODI Tickets All Sold

The tickets secured for the club trips to Trent Bridge for the ODI v. Sri Lanka and Test Match v. India have now all been sold to MPCC members. The respective party's are as follows: -

ODI v. Sri Lanka
Pete Quinn
Carl Gabbitas
Darron Hall
Mick Hilton
Carl Thurlby
Julian Davies

Test v. India
Pete Quinn
Carl Gabbitas
Spike Davis
Rem Fiorini
Julian Davies
Graham Footitt

I am now in a position to gratefully accept payment from any floggers yet to cough up their cash!

Home or Away?

The eagle eyed among you may have noticed that none of the fixtures planned for 2011 are designated home or away. This is because I am still awaiting availability from our mother clubs. As such, please assume we are nomadic this year until further notice.

Net Practice Commences 8th March 2011

Net's will commence Tuesday 8th March 2011 6-7pm at Joseph Whittaker school, Rainworth. Owing to a steep increase in charges, I have to ask £2 per player to take part.

We have two lanes so please get your mates along and try and get as many there as you can.

New Fixture!

MPCC will travel to Woodborough for our now annual bout of championship sledging and very nice cherry bakewells on Sunday June 19th 2011.

Net's are being sorted............I promise!!

Just to reassure, I haven't died, or left the country, or assumed another identity! More importantly I haven't forgotten about net's. Having received all your feedback (ta very much by the way) the general consensus seems to have been that Hosiery Mills is a great venue, but Huthwaite gives everybody an unfortunate stabbing sensation in their derriere in attempting to get to it. As such, having heard great things about Mansfield RUFC I chanced my arm there, successfully if you want to attend on a Sunday night, which I guessed most of you wouldn't. In the meantime, John Fretwell at Warsop, Cuckney and indeed Hosiery Mills are all but booked up. Not to fear, the last three years of waking up on a Sunday morning in the knowledge that I only have 6 players to travel to that days fixture and somehow managing to get it to 10 or 11 by 2pm has left me with something of a tenacious streak! As such, we will practice before the match's, don't know when, don't know where (is that a song??!). Trust me!
