Ray Hang's Up His Spikes

It was with a heavy heart that I recently fielded a call from tricky spinner and opening batsman Ray Goddard to tell me that his cricketing days were over in favour of another sport involving windy walks combined with getting a little ball into a hole in the ground.

Needless to say Ray will be missed this season if for nothing else but having the bottle to open the batting, an ever increasing unpopular role in our squad!!

As such...........I will be looking for volunteers this coming season. Spike Davis has done it a few times and would be good if we could get him a patience implant fitted. Daz Hall is ever reliable as his average suggests but can't play every game because of shifts.

There were some great performances with the bat last year, Glenn Longden and Eggy in particular making some brilliant contributions outside the opening pair so c'mon boys..........have a think about opening!!!
